Origins

How It Started

Between 2001 and 2004, Grooveline was a flagship cultural space in Lisbon's Chiado district — a record shop at Rua da Garrett 58 with a professional glass-walled radio studio built inside.

The studio was born from a partnership between Yorn (Vodafone's youth brand) and the local record scene — originally home to Rádio Oxigénio 102.6 FM. Passers-by on Rua Garrett could watch DJs broadcasting live from behind the glass while browsing vinyl. It wasn't just radio — the space hosted live showcases, DJ sets and artist interviews, making it a central hub for Lisbon's electronic, acid jazz, and alternative music scenes. That energy became Grooveline.org.
